Concert Ensembles
Wind Ensemble
The University Wind Ensemble is a highly select group of approximately sixty of the best wind and percussion players on the University of Utah campus. The Wind Ensemble has performed at the MENC, CBDNA and UMEA Conferences. Students are selected through a competitive audition that takes place the week before classes begin in the fall. A second audition takes place at the conclusion of fall semester for placement in the ensemble for second semester.
Recently, the U of U Wind Ensemble has performed premier works with Jeff Nelsen of the Canadian Brass and internationally acclaimed euphonium artist Adam Frey. They performed the premier of Utah composer Tony DiLorenzo's work, Gemini.
